For the life of the world.

That’s what Jesus said.

This bread is my flesh.

Which I will give.

For the life of the world.

For

The

Life

Of

The

World.

For the cosmos.

For the world, the universe and everything in it.

For creation.

For a creation that groans as in the pains of childbirth.

For a creation under the weight and oppression of sin.

For a creation that is cracked and broken, straining and sighing.

For a creation that is marred by decay.

And death.

For polluted rivers.

And forests that are stripped bare.

And animals that are extinguished from the face of the earth.

For a warming planet.

For disease.

And plagues.

And viruses.

He gave himself.

For the life of the world.

For a sin-riddled humanity.

Broken hearts.

Dark hearts.

Bankrupt hearts.

Proud hearts.

Corrupt hearts.

Greedy hearts.

Mean hearts.

Selfish hearts.

Stubborn hearts.

Adulterous hearts.

Idolatrous hearts.

Fickle hearts.

Wayward hearts.

For hearts that kill.

And rape.

And abuse.

For hearts that crush.

And extort.

And manipulate.

For hearts that invade other nations.

For hard hearts.

Cold hearts.

Dead hearts.

He gave himself,

For the life of the world.

He died for sin.

Our sin.

My sin. Your sin.

He died,

Our death.

But he did not stay dead.

He took on death and defeated it.

He rose again.

Bursting forth.

Where , O death, is your victory?

New life.

Real life.

True life.

Life as it was intended to be.

He gave his life.

For the life of the world.

His body….the bread of life.

I am the bread of life.

Whoever eats this bread will live for ever.

For the life of the world.
